Taylor to Host Free Criminal Expungement Clinic
HARRISBURG—Rep. John Taylor (R-Philadelphia) is encouraging residents who have a minor criminal record in their past to attend a community meeting on the legal process of expunging that offense from the record.

“We are a nation that believes in second chances,” Taylor said. “Unfortunately, even after years of leading an exemplary life, a small, nonviolent misdemeanor can keep someone who has lived an otherwise sterling life from finding employment. If you have a criminal record, you may be able to erase it through a process called expungement.”

To help better explain the process, Taylor will join Community Legal Services and Temple Law in hosting a free criminal expungement clinic on Thursday, Feb. 8, from 5-7 p.m., at the Bridesburg Recreation Center, 4625 Richmond St.

At the event, attendees will be able to meet one-on-one with the volunteers and lawyers to discuss the specifics of their cases.

“Attorneys and volunteers will be available to help attendees understand how to deal with a criminal record,” Taylor said. “Those who qualify may also be able to receive free legal help.”
