Taylor Joins Rally Against Animal Cruelty

PHILADELPHIA-- Rep John Taylor (R-Philadelphia) joined more than 150 concerned residents at the "Justice for Chloe and Hercules" rally held July 12 at the Pennsylvania SPCA, 350 East Erie Ave., to bring attention to two pit-bull mixes that were set on fire.

Taylor hoped the rally would bring attention to the tragedy of animal cruelty.

Chloe was found badly burned June 24 in East Germantown. Hercules was found July 5 in East Oak Lane with severe burns.

"Sadly, Chloe did not make it, but I am proud to say that Hercules is recovering, thanks to the dedicated SPCA staff and veterinarians, who worked tirelessly to bring him back to health,” Taylor said. “I proudly signed a petition to eliminate violence and abuse against these animals, and I will support Jerry Buckley, PSPCA chief executive officer, in the organization's initiative to raise $100,000 to educate the community in order to prevent these heinous crimes.”

Taylor thanks Philadelphia District Attorney, Seth Williams, for treating these acts as the crimes they are. “We all share the belief that these animals are special and they must not be mistreated,” Taylor said.
